KatanaBattleGirls is clearly focused on the characters and their aesthetic, and not on the story. Eventually it became obvious that it would be more fun and interesting to make a game instead of a comic.
I damn wanted to make a fighting game, but it’s just sooo complicated.
What would be a good way to introduce the concept of KatanaBattleGirls in the form of a relatively simple game?
Talking with a pro game designer, I got the answer.
An arcade. A shoot’em up.
Such type of game allows to represent the aesthetics and idea visually, even with the limited resources I have available, thanks to the simple gameplay involved.
Right now I am creating the visual concept of the game, the design part, and I am also thinking about the game mechanics. I’m planning to post my advance here as it goes.
Then, coding will be needed.
Since I ruled out coding it myself, I am thinking either finding funding to hire a professional programmer, or team with a programmer with whom share the benefit from selling the game, once it is completed. I am biased toward the first option. To find the funding needed, I may create a crowdfunding campaign.
Stay tuned to find out when I do it. That's why I ask you to watch me in deviantart, and/or to subscribe to my website: www.katanabattlegirls.com
I’m nervous! I don’t know if all this will pan out, wait for it!
Let’s make this shit guys!
PS: If you are a programmer and can help/give me advice, and even if it’s only one line, I’d appreciate if you contact me at katanabattlegirls at gmail dot com.
